Data and limits

The server answers from public registers and open data. Every response carries the date of the source it came from; the server_info tool lists the current state of all of them.

How it answers

  • Every statistic comes with its n, its period, and a flag when the cell is too thin. A median without its n is not an answer.
  • A register’s silence is not an absence. When a source does not hold something, the server says which source is silent — not that the thing does not exist. Most silences are coverage.
  • Asked is not paid. Advert prices and filed contract prices are two registers and are never mixed.
  • Identifiers are strings. GURS ids have 18 digits and JavaScript silently corrupts them as numbers, so they always travel as text.

What it does not tell you

The data_limitations tool lists more than twenty questions this data cannot answer, and for each the nearest thing it can. A few:

  • Whether a building is on fibre. The register holds routes, not subscriptions. That it has no fibre cannot be said at all.
  • How often the bus runs. A line count is not a frequency; there are no timetables in the sources.
  • How loud the street is. No source holds a measured sound level.
  • Whether an auction lot sold. The source publishes no outcome.
  • Who a private owner is. They cannot be identified in the registers, and the server does not reveal natural persons.

Privacy in the data

Private owners carry no identifier in the public registers, and the server constructs none. Company names come from AJPES; a sole trader is never returned by name or registration number. From adverts, no text, seller or link is served — only statistics. Citizen initiatives are read for keywords and their text is never served.
