Claims, checked

12 claims about housing, taken apart into 28 statements that can be checked. 9 are true, 19 false. Each has its numbers and primary sources linked, 28 distinct sources in all.

A claim in public is often several claims at once. "Ljubljana has thousands of empty flats; tax them" says how many are empty and what a tax would do, and each part has its own answer. So we took every claim apart into statements that can be checked, and answered each without a "partly": true or false.

The claims are worded as they are said, and none is attributed to a party or a person: we check the sentence, not the speaker. Beside each statement are the numbers that decide it and numbered sources. A source is always a primary register or publication (SURS, GURS, AJPES, Eurostat, the Official Gazette), with a link and a date; the study and line the number was copied from are given beside it.

One claim rests on a simulation, not a measurement, and is marked so. One cannot be checked against any public register; it closes the page, written as a fact about the registers.

The claims

Pick an answer or a topic. Every claim has its own link (#k01 to #k13), every statement its own (#k02a), and where the background is shown in full, a link to the article sits under the card.

Answer

What no register can tell

The claim "foreigners and investors are buying everything" is repeated often, with a number or without. No public register can answer it, and that is not our choice but a property of the registers. Whoever asserts or denies it with a number is guessing.

§ How the claims are checked

The numbers are copied from the bloki.si studies; none is recomputed for this page. Beside every source are the study and line the number was copied from, so it can be checked.

The sources are primary: a SURS table with its code, a GURS or AJPES register, a Eurostat dataset with its code, a law in the Official Gazette, a ministry's publication. Where a number is computed from several registers at once, all are given. A number that no primary source carries is not on the page. The links were checked on 2026-10-13.

The answer is true or false. Where it would be "partly", the claim is taken apart into statements until each is one or the other.

The scenario. The claim about the tax and rents rests on the simulation in A property tax, put to the test, not on measured data, which is why it is marked. The answer holds for the tax design as described and for the band between the 10th and 90th percentile of the runs.
